Exporting Client Backup Data
Overview
Export client backup feature in the backup server can be used to export a particular backup or all the backups under a client from the backup server to a specified location in a locally attached drive. The exported data will be in the same format as the backup data; i.e., if the backup was encrypted, the exported data will also be encrypted. The exported data can then be shipped to the client side and the data can be attached into the client machine as a "Local" backup and restored. This is different from Server-Side Restore feature in the following ways:
- The data remains compressed and encrypted when it is been shipped to the client side
- It is not required to know the encryption password for exporting a backup.

Export Client Backup(s) (Both Client and Backup level)
Client Level
If all or select few backup(s) under a client need to be exported, then the export option can be chosen at the client level. On clicking the "Export backup data" icon, a "pop-up" with the client name, "list of backup(s)" , an option to export with "actual" (or) "alias" backup name (Explained below) and an option to enter the destination location are displayed. The user can select the required backup(s) and export to a destination location.
Backup Level
If only a specific backup under a client needs to be exported, then the export option can be chosen at the individual backup level. On clicking the "Export backup data" icon, a "pop-up" with the client name, backup name, an option to export with "actual" (or) "alias" backup name (Explained below) and an option to enter the destination location are displayed. The user can select the backup and export to a destination location.
Export backup options
Export of backup data can be done with two options that are provided in the "Export backup" pop-up itself:
With a prefix (Alias name) - If the user would like to attach the exported backup data in the client and restore it while the backup job already exists in the Client, then this option should be used. Otherwise the exported data cannot be attached to the client machine as the backup with the same name already exists. The backups are exported as Prefix_BackupName.
Note:: The backup(s) exported with this option can be attached to the Client and can only be used to restore the backup data. The backup options like "Schedule ", "Suspend/Resume ", "Edit " will not available for such attached backups.
Without prefix name - Can be attached back in the client and can be restored in the case where the client doesn't have a backup schedule with that name already (like in a freshly installed client). For such attached backups, all the backup options like "Schedule ", "Suspend/Resume ", "Edit ", "Restore " will be available.
Troubleshooting Tips
Limitations
"Abort/Suspend" of Export of backup data is currently not available.
For "Cluster enabled" backup servers, the backup data can be exported only in the backup servers where the client is "Node locked". It cannot be exported from the other backup servers available in that Cluster.
Export of backup data is not available for servers installed as an "Amazon machine instance(AMI)"
